Chapter Eighty-Eight – Friend Turned to Foe
Mara was chilling in the room when Lara came by. She rolled her eyes and climbed down from the bed. Of late when Lara came over it was to be obnoxious about the business and she was getting sick of it. Lara smiled and tried to make small talk before delving into business conversation. “I was hoping we could brainstorm ideas to better position ourselves to deal with this new competition. Last time we tried to talk about it, you lowkey brushed me off.” Mara threw her hands up i

Chapter Eighty-Seven – What Matters Is Who You Are Now
I found Kwame staring at his screen, his mind clearly a million miles away. He looked very troubled. I frowned. I hadn’t seen him like that since his Lara days. The library was gradually emptying out as students trickled out for their Friday evening fun. “Kwame,” I called out to him. “Kwame!” I repeated louder, snapping my fingers in his face to bring him back to the present. “Are you okay?” I asked with concern. Whatever was eating him up must have been a big deal because he

Chapter Eighty-Six – Friends vs Family
Speaking of peace, there was one young man who was experiencing a lack of that. No, I don’t mean Boateng. He didn’t have peace either. I’m actually referring to Kwame. Our poor man of God. His human nature had betrayed him and now he was beside himself. He was at a loss as to what to do. If word got out about his sexual indiscretion, surely the church members would have a field day vilifying him. Never mind that they themselves had done worse. They would say, “we knew it. Wha

Chapter Eighty-Five – That’s Not What I Want to Hear
Aseda thought her eyes were playing tricks on her when she saw Boateng standing at her door. They’d only spoken sporadically. She was always the one reaching out. Always the one trying to see if they still stood a chance. Phyllis and some other friends were in the room. She didn’t want them hearing whatever conversation Boateng was about to have with her. She came out of the room, shutting the door behind her. “Where did I sleep that this ghost has come to visit me?” Aseda as

Chapter Eighty-Four – Dumb Decisions 101
I believe there are about four stages in the doing of something dumb. Let’s review. The first stage is the setting. This is where you put yourself in the right set of conditions to do the dumb thing. Here, every factor necessary to do it is satisfied. For instance, you may be on a diet. Then you walk into a KFC. This is the setting. Surely, surrounding yourself with fried chicken, fries, sundaes and soft drinks is a recipe for disaster. That’s what leads to the second stage.

Chapter Eighty-Three – Thou Shalt Flee Sexual Immorality
Kwame did his best to get the thoughts of Stephanie out of his mind. Each time he tried to read his notes, thoughts of the kiss that didn’t happen came back to him. Sometimes, he completed the thought with an actual kiss. He imagined what her lips would have felt like. What if he slipped his hand onto the small of her waist while she grabbed his neck, her acrylic nails grazing his neck. Then he would quickly snap out of it. Shaking his head furiously and rebuking the thought.

Chapter Eighty-Two – The World Doesn’t Revolve Around Me
Reader, it is I. I know you’ve missed me. As have I. Missed me, I mean. Yes, I missed you but I missed me more. Can you blame me? I am so funny and entertaining and chronicling my life is one of my favorite past times. It’s been too long and I apologize. At this point, you should know that it is to be expected. I would say that I’ve changed but why should I lie? Back to the story as that is why you’re here in the first place, you gossip. Anima’s bid for presidency proved succ
